You are invited to attend the annual meeting of the Wisconsin Section of the American Water Resources Association (AWRA). The meeting will be held at the Lake Lawn Resort in Delavan, Wisconsin on February 28 and March 1, 2019.
Our theme this year is “Clearing the Waters: Effective Science and Communication.” We are planning plenary, oral, poster and lightning sessions that will address technical and policy issues of surface water and groundwater in Wisconsin with an emphasis on science communication.
We are honored to welcome this year’s speakers Plenary speakers Dominique Brossard (UW-Madison, Department of Life Sciences Communication) and Lee Bergquist (Milwaukee Journal- Sentinel), as well as evening speaker Dale Robertson (U.S. Geological Survey, Upper Midwest Water Science Center).

Registration includes lunch and dinner on Thursday, refreshment breaks on both days, program abstract book and AWRA Section dues. Registration does not include breakfast Friday morning, but there will be a morning break with refreshments.
The meeting will be held at the Lake Lawn Resort, Delavan. Rooms at the hotel can be reserved until Feb. 20, 2019, at the AWRA conference rate of $82 for a single room and $92 for double room. A limited number of group rooms are available upon request. You must indicate that you are attending the American Water Resources Association meeting to receive this rate, reference room block “AWRA WI.” Please call the hotel directly at (800) 338-5253 to make your room reservation. A limited number of group rooms are available upon request. Rooms are tax exempt with proper identification.
Breakout sessions for the 2019 meeting will include topics relating to our conference theme of science communication as well as managing water resources, wetlands, groundwater, surface water & urban hydrology, hydrology and climate change, and measuring, monitoring & modeling surface water and groundwater.
The meeting will also include a luncheon business meeting for the Wisconsin Section of the AWRA, plenary speakers, an evening banquet, a dinner speaker and a poster session during a dessert buffet.
Section elections for President Elect, Vice President, Secretary, and Director-at-Large will be held at the luncheon business meeting. Biographies of each candidate will be printed in the program.
Looking for Student Assistants
Six students are needed to run the projectors and do other tasks at the annual meeting. If you are interested, please ask your professor to send a short letter of recommendation to Andy Leaf. Student assistants will need to arrive at the meeting location by 10 am on Thursday, February 28, 2019, and are required to attend both days of the conference. Registration fees will be waived for students who are selected.

Professional Development Hour certificates will be available for Wisconsin licensed Professional Engineers. If you will need a certificate, please indicate this when you register.
