It is with sad heart we post the news that Peter Muto has passed away. We were fortunate to have had Peter as a member of the WCHF Board of Directors and of the Executive Committee for many years, most recently serving as WCHF Treasurer. As WCHF President Joe Passineau noted “Peter was always enthusiastic and actively promoting the WCHF.”

Peter worked as a Professor in Chemistry at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls until his retirement in 1988. He was a WWII veteran, retiring from the Wisconsin National Guard in 1984 as a Lieutenant Colonel. Peter organized the River Falls Recycling Center, and planted 25,000 tree seedlings for which a tree was dedicated to him at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls at his retirement. He loved gardening.

“Peter was loved by everyone due to his caring, generous, and compassionate nature. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Helen.” (Peter’s obituary)
