The Wisconsin Conservation Hall of Fame is guided by a seven-member volunteer board of directors. This month we introduce board member, Tom Hauge.
Tom shares, “During both my academic training and professional career, my awareness of key moments in our shared history that saved, protected or conserved Wisconsin’s natural resources grew. These achievements did not just happen by accident. They were the product of hard work, perseverance, and collaboration of people who cared enough about our state’s air, water, woods, wetlands, prairies, and the species that live there, to do whatever was needed to protect them. The achievements of Wisconsin’s conservation heroes should not be forgotten. For the past 37 years, WCHF has worked to make sure that we never forget what they accomplished and share their stories with current and future generations of conservation heroes. I’m pleased to be working with the WCHF leadership to make sure the Hall can continue this important work for the next 100 years.”
Tom worked for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources for 37 years in the wildlife management program, serving the last 25 years as the program director. He retired in 2017 and lives in Prairie du Sac, with his wife Mary Jon. Tom has served as a board member for Wisconsin’s Green Fire and currently co-chairs their wildlife working group. He is a Director on the Wisconsin Wildlife Federation’s Board and is the current president for the Sauk County Conservation Alliance, a network of the local outdoor clubs.
