Sponsorships for the 2022 Induction Events are invited from organizations, businesses and individuals. Every 2022 Induction Ceremony Sponsor will be recognized during each of the virtual events. Sponsor donations will offset event costs and create opportunities for Sponsors to show support for the WCHF and the conservation heroes being honored. Sponsorship levels: Gold – $1000+, Silver – $500-$999, Bronze – $250-$499. A Sponsorship may be made in recognition of or memory of someone/something. Sponsorships are due by March 18th. 2022 WCHF Inductee Announcement

The Wisconsin Conservation Hall of Fame Foundation, Inc. is pleased to announce the April 2022 Induction of Gordon A. Bubolz, Arlen Christenson, and Kathleen Falk. “Each of these conservation heroes has shaped the Wisconsin we know and love; their legacies continue to make a difference in our lives today,” said 2020-2023 Wisconsin Conservation Hall of Fame Foundation President Patty Dreier. The WCHF will honor Gordon, Arlen and Kathleen on April 19, 2022 live on a virtual platform. The events are free and open to the public. WCHF Board Member Jan Scalpone’s Passing

One of our former WCHF Board members, Jan Scalpone, passed away on June 25th of this year. Jan was the longtime Citizen’s Natural Resources Association (CNRA) Vice President. The family is planning a ‘Celebration of Life’ memorial for Jan later this summer.

Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Fund has Four More Years

Governor Evers signed the 2021-2023 state budget, which includes four years of funding for the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program through June 2026.

The Gathering Waters press announcement:

The renewal includes a modest funding increase from $32 million per year to $33.25 million per year.

The Department of Natural Resources will have $6 million per year to spend on land acquisitions, down from $9 million per year.
Improvements to DNR lands will see a modest increase from $3 million to $4.25 million per year
Local governments, on the other hand, now have access to more than $9 million in funding each year, up from $6 million per year.
Land trusts and other non-profit conservation organizations will continue to have access to $7 million of funding per year.

Joint Finance Votes to Renew Knowles-Nelson

On June 10, 2021, the legislature’s Joint Committee on Finance voted to renew the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program for 4 years at 32 million dollars per year. We anticipate the state budget to be reviewed by the full Legislature. Assuming the budget bill will be passed by the Legislature, it is going to Governor Evers’ to sign as it as-is, to veto parts of the bill, or to veto the entire budget.…
