The Wisconsin Society for Ornithology is a volunteer, nonprofit organization that was established in 1939. Their mission is to promote the enjoyment, study and conservation of Wisconsin’s birds. They provide opportunities for all people to enjoy resident and migratory birds, while being a leading steward of and ambassador for Wisconsin birds. WSO sponsors birding field trips throughout the year, hosts birding programs and events, publishes a quarterly journal and monthly newsletter, offers research grants, and serves as an informational resource center on bird-related issues.
The WSO now offers its members an interactive digital version of Wisconsin’s Favorite Bird Haunts, the state’s most comprehensive bird-finding resource, with over 800 site descriptions and maps of all 72 counties from 110 local experts.
The Wisconsin Conservation Hall of Fame is grateful to have the support of the Wisconsin Society for Ornithology as one of our 35 Voting Member Organizations!
