Land, ethics, justice, and Aldo Leopold

Wisconsin Conservation Hall of Fame Governor, Curt Meine, recently published a Perspective Essay in Socio-Ecological Practice Research titled “Land, ethics, justice, and Aldo Leopold.” Aldo Leopold was Inducted into the WCHF in 1985, at the first ever Induction Ceremony. In his article, Curt explores Leopold’s views on such themes as the Native American experience, the eugenics movement of the early twentieth century, cultural diversity, and the rise of fascism. Curt suggests that Leopold may be regarded not as an apotheosis of conservation thinking, but as an essential transitional figure within a still broader, ongoing movement, informed by an ever-evolving ethic of care.
